David Lance Richardson (11 June 1962 - ) was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Bill Richardson and Martha Rhea Johnson. Educated in Greenwood schools, he enlisted immediately after graduation, August 1981. Lance had basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and his AIT training at Fort Lee, Virginia. He was posted to Fort Carson, Colorado in 1982 and was sent to Kitzegen, Germany in 1983 for 14 months. Upon his return, he was discharged from active service in 1984; in that same year he joined the Arkansas National Guard, in which he served until 1993. In November 1990, Lance was activated and served in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm until May 1991. His decorations include the National Defense Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Southwest Asia Service Medal, the Saudi Arabian Medal for the Liberation of Kuwait, and the Emirate of Kuwait Medal for the Liberation of Kuwait. He is married to Connie Conger and lives in Fort Smith.
